Are You Ready to Go Virtual?
In the wake of COVID-19, a new era in clinical research is emerging. The traditional clinical trial model has long been burdened by high costs, logistical challenges, limited patient participation, and inadequate panel diversity—issues only made worse by the pandemic and subsequent recovery period.
Virtual clinical trials offer a promising solution. By shifting away from traditional, site-based models, virtual trials can accelerate drug development, expand participant populations, and improve overall trial outcomes.
In this article, Keith Graff, Andrea Wetmore, and Ryan Moynihan discuss the key benefits of implementing virtual clinical trials and provide six recommendations to support a smooth transition to a nontraditional research infrastructure.
