Insights on Prioritizing Technology Investments and Maximizing the Value of the Ambulatory Enterprise
ECG recently conducted a survey of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives’ (CHIME’s) 5,000-plus global digital health leader audience to better understand their priorities for technology investment in ambulatory practices, perceived ROI of potential solutions, and AI adoption across eight functional areas.
ECG’s digital health experts facilitated a focus group at CHIME’s Fall Forum to discuss the hype and reality of AI solutions with health system technology leaders. The conversation validated ECG’s survey findings while providing additional insight about AI initiative prioritization, user experience, and implementing available AI features.
As ambulatory practices continue to face increased margin pressures, IT leaders are prioritizing technology investments that support improved financial performance through revenue growth or enhanced workforce efficiencies to reduce operating costs. They are prioritizing the evaluation of AI scribe technologies to streamline provider documentation, another top operational challenge. Though not at the exclusion of other IT investments, leaders recognize that financial sustainability provides the necessary foundation to continue exploring less financially focused opportunities for technology enablement.
