Rita is a seasoned executive healthcare consultant with over 30 years’ worth of experience in hospital administration. Her strengths in clinical operations and financial management support sustainable results for her clients. Her varied knowledge and background, which include throughput and care optimization, span across academic medical centers, health systems, children’s hospitals, and physician practice groups. Rita enjoys rolling up her sleeves and getting deeply involved, discussing various workflows within the hospital with frontline staff, and then distilling what she discovers to inform and quantify the opportunity to close a financial gap. She has demonstrated solid performance in enhancing Emergency Department (ED) and perioperative spaces, shared services, span of control, and length of stay (LOS) and care variation.
Prior to joining ECG, Rita was a senior director at Huron Healthcare, a large, publicly held consulting firm, leading care optimization projects to sustainable outcomes at large for multiple hospital systems in Texas and California, decreasing overall LOS, reducing expenses related to care variation and workforce, and applying performance improvement strategies in key departments such as the ED and OR. At Huron, Rita also led an inpatient nursing workforce optimization project utilizing a team of four nurse managers to spearhead the project design at a 450‑bed hospital in the Midwest. This engagement exceeded its projected benefit by $3 million. In addition, she supported the client through its furlough decision-making and return process, resulting in downsizing the overall organizational workforce, along with reducing benefit expenses.
