Ryan has a wealth of experience across the healthcare spectrum, ranging from community hospitals to academic medical centers, working with frontline staff to senior executives and physicians. Thanks to this diverse involvement, Ryan possesses a breadth of knowledge in hospital and physician practice finances, operations, and strategy. He has a passion for utilizing data and stakeholder insights to help clients obtain a comprehensive understanding of their challenges and craft actionable solutions that align with strategic goals.
Before joining ECG, Ryan worked at the University of Utah Health (UUH), where he performed financial and strategic analyses to identify opportunities for the organization’s growing telehealth and outreach clinic programs. His work included evaluating contract structures between UUH and its community hospital partners to maximize revenue and keep strategic goals aligned. He also implemented new performance measures to assess the use of provider resources for outreach clinics, which helped identify over $900,000 in cost savings over a single year. Prior to UUH, Ryan was the lead FP&A analyst for Virginia Mason Memorial’s medical group. There, he managed the monthly financial performance for the medical group division and built financial models for its capital projects, provider compensation and staffing changes, and strategic initiatives. One project involved developing a professional service agreement to lease specialty providers to local FQHCs that resulted in an annual net profit of $1.5 million and $3.5 million in expense reduction.
