Jamaal assists healthcare organizations in matters related to physician-hospital alignment and medical group operations. His particular expertise in physician compensation plan design and implementation, as well as physician group practice operations, enables his clients to align provider compensation with organizational objectives and optimize medical group performance.
Since Jamaal joined ECG in 2006, his practice has focused on physician-hospital relationships, physician compensation planning, operations improvement, and service line strategy and development. He has facilitated the formation of several comprehensive physician compensation frameworks that align incentive structures with value-based reimbursement mechanisms. Jamaal recently assisted one of the nation’s largest health systems in developing and implementing a revised compensation methodology that resulted in greater consistency across the enterprise while allowing flexibility for market-specific economic factors. He also served as the interim vice president of physician compensation for a system-sponsored medical group in the Midwest with more than 1,500 providers. In this capacity, he led the implementation of the organization’s revised compensation plan, including management and administration of the plan and development of the performance monitoring and reporting infrastructure. Prior to joining ECG, Jamaal worked for Henry Ford Medical Group as supervisor of patient access and referral services and for Barnes–Jewish Hospital as administrator on duty.
