David Werner

Dave is an experienced healthcare payment system analyst who can both drill down into the critical details and understand the big picture in terms of negotiation and financial strategy. Dave uses his expertise to guide his clients through the current complex reimbursement landscape, helping them understand and use elements such as alternative payment systems, compliance legislation, and competitive profiling to accomplish their goals for improved financial position. Dave has worked with large and small payers in fully and self-funded spaces and has experience in the areas of financial reporting, actuarial services, payment system modeling, and contract negotiations. Clients appreciate his ability to quickly process and interpret large amounts of data from multiple sources and transform it into decision support models to inform their strategies.

Prior to ECG, Dave worked for ASR Health Benefits as the director of provider network management and provider reimbursement, where he was responsible for all aspects of provider recruiting, contracting, and decision support for ASR’s self-funded network of 165 hospitals and over 26,000 professionals. In this role, he supported the drafting and negotiation of PHO, PO, and hospital contracts, including all related analytics. Before that, Dave was a senior project manager at Priority Health, where he oversaw the successful transition of the provider network to a capitated reimbursement and risk-sharing model, which resulted in annual incentive payments of over $20 million.
