David has over 30 years of experience in healthcare, including 25 years in consulting. David uses a collaborative, data-driven approach to lead operational and performance improvement initiatives for hospitals and health systems. He specializes in financial turnarounds, cost reduction, postmerger integration, productivity systems development, staffing optimization, benchmarking, and process redesign and implementation. He has worked with over 100 healthcare organizations across the country to help them achieve significant cost savings to improve their bottom lines, generating over $1 billion in financial improvements.
Prior to joining ECG, David held senior positions with several national healthcare consulting firms and large integrated health systems. He was director of strategic planning at Kaiser Permanente, where he developed annual strategic plans for the system. In his previous role at Dignity Health, David was the director for strategy and business development, focusing on market and competitor dynamics and identifying opportunities for growth in the San Francisco market. Before Dignity Health, David was a reengineering consultant at Texas Health Resources. In this role, he was part of a team that implemented financial improvements of over $30 million. David has written articles and spoken at multiple HFMA and hospital association conferences on topics involving performance improvement and managing labor costs, such as "Surviving to Thriving: Cost Reduction, Revenue Enhancement & Service Line Optimization" for HFMA's 2023 Lone Star Winter Conference.
